Description of Tour
From Gstaad off the mainroads over a short ramp up to Schönried, then Saanenmöser, then on the right side of the valley (Öschseite) down to the historic village of Zweisimmen.
We cross the mainroad and arrive at the first serious climb: 4km averaging at 8%. First gratification by a fast descent of 5 km far away from traffic, offering stunning views to beautiful Simmental.
Turning point just before arriving at the main Simmental road in Garstatt, we take left towards the mountain again. And it's here where the wheat is starting to be seperated from the chaff: a long steep climb of 5,5 km (500 vertical) on small agricultural roads before we join the main road to Col de Jaun (attention please: traffic!!), only 2 / 150 left to arrive at the Col.
The 6 km descent on the main road from Col de Jaun is very fast and technical and sometimes a bit narrow for a main road. You still have to be careful here because of traffic (unfortunately much more motor bikes on the Swiss Cols since Corona).
At the roundabout of Jaun-Kappelboden we leave the main road. Follows one of the highlights of this Tour, a beautiful climb of 11 / 600 towards Mittelberg in the middle of alps and untouched nature, surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Gastlosen, the "small Swiss Dolimites".
After an unforgettable descent of 10 km we arrive in Saanen, some crank rotations later back in Gstaad.
